SCC Infrastructure Private Limited and InSolare Energy Limited have jointly secured the twelfth green ammonia auction conducted by the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI). The auction was held under the Strategic Interventions for Green Hydrogen Transition Programme (Mode-2A–Tranche-I), which forms part of India’s broader National Green Hydrogen Mission.
The consortium will supply 15,000 tonnes per annum (TPA) of green ammonia to Mangalore Chemicals and Fertilisers in Karnataka. The allocation was secured at a tariff of Rs 57.65 per kilogram. This latest success marks another milestone for SCC Infrastructure and InSolare in SECI’s ongoing green ammonia procurement drive.
The tender is part of a broader series of 13 auctions that collectively aim to secure a cumulative green ammonia procurement capacity of 724,000 TPA. With this twelfth round concluded, only one more auction remains under the current series. These auctions are expected to establish a steady supply base for green ammonia in India, aligning with the country’s ambition to reduce dependence on fossil fuels and accelerate its transition towards cleaner industrial inputs.
Earlier this month, SCC Infrastructure and InSolare emerged as winners in a separate SECI green ammonia auction, where they secured a capacity of 70,000 TPA at a tariff of Rs 53.05 per kilogram. That supply was allocated to Madhya Bharat Agro Products-III, based in Dhule, Maharashtra. With two wins in quick succession, the consortium has further strengthened its role within India’s emerging green ammonia market.
Green ammonia, produced using hydrogen derived from renewable energy sources, is seen as a critical solution for decarbonising industries such as fertilisers, chemicals, and shipping. Unlike conventional ammonia production, which relies on natural gas and releases significant carbon emissions, green ammonia offers a pathway to reduce greenhouse gas output in line with India’s climate goals.
SECI’s auctions form part of the government’s broader push under the National Green Hydrogen Mission, which seeks to position India as a major player in the global green hydrogen and ammonia markets. The mission targets the production of 5 million tonnes of green hydrogen annually by 2030, with green ammonia acting as both a storage medium and an industrial input.
By ensuring offtake agreements through long-term supply contracts, SECI aims to provide confidence to project developers and investors, helping scale up green hydrogen and ammonia production capacity. With tariffs gradually settling through successive rounds of auctions, the framework is also helping benchmark the cost trajectory for the sector.
