GH2 Solar Limited, a next-generation renewable energy company and one of the five participants in the Government of India’s Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme for both green hydrogen production and electrolyser manufacturing, has announced a significant milestone under the National Green Hydrogen Mission. The company, in partnership with South Korea-based Advanced Hydrogen Energy Solutions (AHES) Ltd, will establish a Green Hydrogen Electrolyser Manufacturing Facility in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh.

The project, located in Pipersewa, Morena district, is being developed with an estimated investment of Rs 400 crore. In its first phase, GH2 Solar will deploy Rs 100 crore to set up a 3 GWh battery energy storage system (BESS) assembly line, a critical component for integrating renewable energy with green hydrogen production. The remaining Rs 300 crore will be invested in stages by 2030, with plans to scale up electrolyser capacity from the initial 105 MW, awarded under SECI’s SIGHT programme, to 500 MW by the end of the decade. This growth directly aligns with India’s target of producing 5 million tonnes of green hydrogen annually by 2030.

The project also benefits from a Rs 157.5 crore subsidy under the PLI scheme, a key government initiative designed to boost domestic manufacturing capacity and reduce reliance on imports. By leveraging this support, GH2 Solar aims to bring advanced electrolyser technology to India while simultaneously reducing production costs and improving competitiveness in the global market.

The joint venture with AHES Ltd will introduce advanced alkaline electrolyser technology in India, with scope for future expansion into Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) systems and other emerging technologies. Meanwhile, GH2 Solar’s collaboration with Rhizome Energy will integrate sustainable design and advanced engineering practices tailored to Indian operating conditions, ensuring efficiency, durability, and scalability.

Beyond technology, the facility is expected to strengthen Madhya Pradesh’s position as a hub for green hydrogen and energy innovation. The establishment of this facility is thus not only a boost for India’s clean energy ambitions but also a step toward positioning the country as a global leader in hydrogen manufacturing and technology exports.
