Ocior Energy has emerged as the winning bidder in Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited’s (HPCL) national tender for the supply of green hydrogen to its Visakhapatnam refinery in Andhra Pradesh.

The tender, issued under HPCL’s push toward decarbonizing refinery operations, saw participation from several industry players. However, Ocior Energy was selected after meeting both the commercial and technical requirements of the project—a move that further strengthens its foothold in India’s evolving green hydrogen economy.

The project is expected to significantly reduce carbon emissions at the Vizag refinery by replacing grey hydrogen with green hydrogen produced using renewable energy sources. While specific project capacity and cost details were not disclosed, the deal is seen as a major milestone for Ocior, whose growing portfolio includes green hydrogen and ammonia ventures across the Middle East and India.

Ocior is also developing a large-scale green ammonia project in Gujarat, announced earlier this year. With this HPCL win, the company signals strong execution capability in India’s hydrogen market, which is rapidly gaining global attention.
